About Michael Chesley Johnson

Join Michael for a springtime plein air painting retreat in beautiful Santa Fe, New Mexico!

This is a special retreat for a very limited number of participants. Michael will guide you to locations, paint with you in the field and offer daily critiques. If you wish mentoring, he will also consult with you and offer guidance for your future. This can be a real "immersion" experience!

This workshop is for experienced plein air painters.

Price: $1200/person. Includes lodging and breakfast each day. (For lunches and dinners, we can do communal meals or go out.) Extra person welcome if space is available at a price TBA.

The retreat is smoke-free. Healthy, low-salt food will be served with an emphasis on vegetarian options for breakfast. Because of the painting schedule, plan on an early rise and early to bed.

Santa Fe has a rich cultural and artistic history. Occupied by several ancestral pueblo Indians starting in about 1000 A.D., Santa Fe was made the capital of Nuevo Mexico in 1610 by the Spanish. Many artists, including the Taos artists, came to the city to live and paint. Today, Santa Fe is the third largest art market in the US, after Los Angeles and New York City. It is filled with historic, scenic buildings and beautiful natural scenery and remains a mecca for artist and collector alike.

Santa Fe is about one hour from the Albuquerque Sunport.

Schedule

April 16-23, 2018

To apply, contact Michael at mcj.painter@gmail.com.

We do insist that all participants lodge with the group.
There is a certain, desirable energy that results from everyone lodging together. Non-residents would miss out on impromptu discussions. But perhaps more important, the non-resident would not be part of any decisions that might be made during "off hours."

Our retreat will happen at the same time as PleinAir Magazine's convention in Santa Fe. Their dates are April 16-20. For only a few hundred dollars more, you can be with us -- and get lodging and breakfast and more days! You don't get lodging and breakfast when you sign up for the convention!
